New Artist

My style has been called architectural, with a rich cultural background/influences from living in the US, Sweden and Italy in addition to my graphic design background. While born and raised in the US, over the course of earning my BFA in Graphic Design my studies took me to Mullsjo, Sweden. It was there that I first experienced working with silver. After completing my degree I enjoyed working for an advertising agency in California, where I met my Swedish husband. For 25 yrs in Sweden I owned a graphic design company working with both Swedish and American clients. It was there my passion and appreciation for silversmithing grew into an apprenticeship and continuous education in silversmithing. In 2009 I began teaching silversmithing courses in Tuscany, Italy. Over the course of 5 years, while living in Florence, I further developed and refined my techniques and style collaborating with Italian silversmiths. My desire is that the originaltiy of my work reflects the individuality of the person wearing it. I use different gauges of sheet soldered together to create depth in the pieces and combine both matt and shiny areas by using hand tools to create the finishes. While most of my designs are geometric as I love the designs of Frank Lloyd Wright and the architecture and interiors of that time, I also enjoy modernizing organic objects such as sea shells and snowflakes by using sheet and soldering together to make 3 dimentional shapes. I enjoy adding gold and movement to my pieces, often adding 18 k gold spheres that will move on the piece in my Touch of gold collection, to give a bit of fun to the piece. Each of my collections have a background.I would like those who buy my pieces to know the story behind the piece and feel a connection to it. I often give demonstrations or take pictures of each piece being made so the wearer sees the beauty of my craft, not just the piece.
